It was a cold winter’s evening on Monday 9th December, with temperatures nose diving while some customers in John Lewis take the opportunity to “have a nose”, Christmas shop and get hands-on with the our products at the John Lewis Roof Top event.
We supported this event because we wanted to get customers to try our two Full Frame Mirrorless Cameras in a different environment as customers cannot test the cameras to their full potential inside a typical store. Customers now had a chance to shoot in low light which is a great way to show how impressive these two cameras are and gave them a chance to feed off of our expertise on how to improve their shots in low light conditions such as these, in addition to learning what lenses would help them with their existing kits.
The weather certainly did not stop a steady footfall as several chose to brave the cold to engage with us, speaking with those who already owned Canon cameras and wanted to see what the next step would be in terms of equipment. In particular there was one girl with her mother and who had recently purchased her daughter a DSLR camera because of her growing interest in photography. We got her hands on with one of our cameras and a variety of lenses to give her a feel of how different lenses perform in 3 different scenarios. She took photos of the skyline, the curling and people. She was impressed with her shots and now had much to consider with getting the most out of her system. It is likely at least one of those lenses will be gift wrapped under the Christmas tree!
As we reviewed the overall event as a success, there is certainly the opportunity to ‘Think Bigger’ and repeat the hands on experience, proceeding to a food photography workshop and a portraiture workshop up there when the weather starts warming up as we wouldn’t want for our event specialists to catch a cold!!
